      <abstract>
        <p>Ecological literature is an important branch of American literature. Through the use of various rhetorical
devices and literary skills，American ecological literature has transcended naturalism and romanticism to form a unique literary form. “Staying Put：Making a Home in a Restless World” is a book of ecological literature by Scott Russell Sanders published in 1994. In the passage from this book，Sanders refutes the perspective of Salman Rushdie，who believes “movement is inherently good” using several rhetorical devices . Sanders asserts that the pursuit of moving engenders a profound emotional disconnection between humans and the land，thereby intensifying environmental degradation. He
advocates for the cultivation of a sense of ecological responsibility through a deepening connection with a specific geographical location. This paper analyzes the rhetorical strategies Scott Russell Sanders makes to develop his perspective about migrations</p>
